Amazon Paints

We now carry recycled paint from Amazon Environmental, Inc! Amazon Select latex paints are manufactured from quality surplus paint that has been rescued from the waste-stream. These paints meet three of the goals of Community Forklift: keeping reusable material out of landfills, promoting environmentally-friendly building materials, and making home repairs more affordable to our community members. Amazon Select paints meet strict specifications for color, gloss, viscosity and coverage and are priced well below “virgin” paint from national brands.

We are carrying 18 different colors and primer of Amazon Select. All colors are available in one-gallon containers, with prices starting at $17, and several of the most popular colors are available in five-gallon containers, with prices starting at $51. (Primer starts at $51 for a five-gallon container.) All colors come in a flat finish and Whipped White and Ivory White come in low luster.

Larkin Glass

Philip Larkin is a restorer and repairer of antique and modern stained glass windows, with a portfolio of hundreds of projects. His personal collection of rescued windows, mostly antiques from England, is now on a limited-run consignment at Community Forklift! Beginning in mid-March 2018, installments of his collection have been arriving every few weeks as current stock sells. Each piece features a beautiful, unique design and some are still in their original sashes.

Treincarnation

Marcus Sims of Treincarnation stocks sustainably harvested, air-dried and rough-planed specialty lumber at Community Forklift. The lumber comes from trees that are salvaged from urban and urbanizing land and ranges in size and shape, often with its natural bark skin still intact on its edges.

Tanglewood Works

Tanglewood Works is where upcycling and art connect.  This business launched in our warehouse a few years ago, offering beautiful gifts, furnishings, and housewares from local artists who use recycled and reclaimed materials.  However, we’re proud to say they’ve outgrown us and moved to a bigger space!  Check out their new shop at 5132 Baltimore Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781 (www.TanglewoodWorks.com)
