Community Forklift accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, debit cards, checks and good old-fashioned cash!
Did you know that Community Forklift has successfully completed Co-op America's screening process for socially and environmentally responsible green businesses? We are now in their National Green Pages™ directory!
Donate Building MaterialsDonated building materials are the cornerstone of Community Forklift. We couldn't exist without them. By donating, you can qualify for a tax deduction, reduce disposal costs, keep items out of landfills and support the organization. The Forklift receives donations from thousands of homeowners and businesses throughout the Washington, DC metro area.
The Forklift also welcomes financial donations. Your financial gift is tax deductible and helps the organization fund its mission.
Our website provides Donation Guidelines to help you determine if your building materials are items we accept. We accept surplus and salvage building materials and appliances, vintage architectural elements and select vintage furniture. We can only accept items that are in good, usable, condition. We don't have the resources to facilitate waste hauling and disposal for unusable materials. Before bringing items to our warehouse for donation or scheduling a pickup, please review our Donation Guidelines.
The Forklift offers two convenient ways to donate building materials.
Drop-OffMaterials may be dropped off at Dock #3, which is located on Tanglewood Drive in the front of our building. Donations are accepted during regular warehouse hours, up until 30 minutes before closing. Please do not leave donations outside the building when Community Forklift is closed.
Be sure to review our Donation Guidelines below before loading up your car!
Dropping off your donation helps the Forklift to reduce its carbon footprint and use its limited resources most efficiently.
Donations are accepted at Dock #3
PickupFor large donations or a deconstruction project, you can schedule a convenient, free pickup at your home, business or work-site.
Environmental stewardship is paramount to Community Forklift's mission. While we use a 24' box truck for large pick-ups, the truck is costly to operate and leaves a large carbon footprint. Our truck is used to pick up large donations only. Help save the planet, if the items you are donating fit inside your car, please drop them off at our warehouse rather than request a pickup.
To schedule a pickup, click on the button below, fill out the form and our Donations Coordinator will contact you within 48-hours. Pickups are generally scheduled two (2) weeks or more from the time you contact the Donations Team, so please plan accordingly.
Please be sure to review our Donation Guidelines before you submit your pickup request.
If you have an upcoming, large-scale renovation or deconstruction project, please contact us at least two (2) weeks in advance of your required pick-up date.
Planning a Major Renovation or Tear-Down? Consider DeconstructionDeconstruction, unlike demolition, involves the careful dismantling of a building so that materials can be salvaged for reuse and recycling rather than being dumped in a land fill.
