Everett, our employee and friend, has passed away

It is with heavy hearts that we have to share this sad news.  Everett Scrivner was a longtime Forklift customer & cheerleader.  He found all sorts of thrifty, creative ways to reclaim and reuse, and we featured his home in our May 2010 newsletter.  He could always be relied on in a pinch, and loved to welcome customers to the warehouse.  Last year, he became an employee and began working on our Outreach & Education team (he was particularly proud that his efforts helped us win Best Hardware Store of 2012 in the City Paper).  We will greatly miss his enthusiasm, friendship, and giving spirit.

There will be a memorial gathering  this Saturday, Nov.3rd at 5:30pm at Shortcake Bakery at 4700 Rhode Island Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781.  All are welcome join us as we share stories and celebrate his life.  Donations are also being collected for the care of his loved ones (Checks can be mailed to 4671 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston MD 20781.  Please make checks out to Community Forklift and write Everett’s “Modern Family” in the memo line).

Everett had a bright and cheerful smile that illuminated all who had the privilege of seeing it. May the light of that smile remain in our hearts and may we transmit the warmth of his smile to others.
