About Urban Ore

Founded in the 1980s in Berkeley, California, Urban Ore is operated by 65 workers and generates millions of dollars in revenue by diverting thousands of tons of valuable resources from landfills annually.  In addition to serving its immediate customers, Urban Ore serves as a key link in a regional supply chain for scores of reuse stores in the San Francisco Bay area.

On the Path to Zero Waste is Co-sponsored by Zero Waste Prince George’s, the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, Community Research, the College Park Committee for a Better Environment and their partners.  This special program is part of a speaking tour organized by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and its local partners to celebrate the Institute’ 40th anniversary.
