In this workshop, you will learn how to construct a vertical edible garden (VEG) tower using partially salvaged materials as the structure for the tower. In these towers, you can grow greens, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans etc. (just about anything except for trees and root crops). Vertical systems like the VEG tower help capitalize on resources, saving space and minimizing the use of water, fertilizer and pesticides. A 10 foot row of vertical towers can grow as much produces as a 500 sq ft traditional, in-ground garden over a season.
Millennial Farmers believes in growing food in cities to feed cities. We work to de-industrialize our over complicated food system by creating easy, simple, cost-effective ways to grow food in urban environments (although we also work with traditional farmers both in the US and abroad to improve their practices).
