Position Title: Digital Communications Intern

Description: Community Forklift, LLC is an innovative building materials reuse center based in Edmonston, Maryland. The name refers to our mission of “lifting local communities” by reducing waste, creating green jobs, and making repairs affordable for homeowners, small businesses, and community groups. In addition, Community Forklift provides home improvement materials to the public for subsidized prices, and/or donates materials to nonprofits and families in need.
Community Forklift’s outreach office leads efforts to increase the visibility of the organization and advances its reputation. This involves actively recruiting and developing stories about the materials, donors, staff, partner nonprofits, communities/individuals assisted, and service activities; developing brand identity, marketing materials and publications for the organization; assisting and updating the Community Forklift website and social media accounts; and promoting and documenting organization-wide events, among other efforts.
Community Forklift is undertaking period of rapid growth and expanding communications and marketing initiatives. This project will be a major focus of the outreach efforts, and a student intern would gain valuable experience as part of a nonprofit team working on creative communications and marketing initiatives with an opportunity to leave a lasting impact.

Qualifications:
Excellent writing and communication skills required.
Experience with graphic design, video editing or photography a plus.

Community Forklift’s vintage department conducts research on its antique, vintage, or unusual materials then places a value on these accordingly. This inventory is then sold in the warehouse or online through our various e-commerce platforms.

Required & Desired Qualifications:
Genuine interest for vintage & unusual building and/or décor materials.
Organized multitasker, can work independently or part of a team is a must!
Excellent writing, communication, and Excel skills required.
Experience with photography a plus.
