Did you see the Home Section of the Post?

Check out this article!

The Washington Post published a profile of Community Forklift and our CEO, Nancy J. Meyer in this week’s Home Section.   It’s a great read, and reporter Maia Silber did a nice job conveying the spirit of our operation and Nancy’s passion for the mission.  This kind of publicity is priceless; it will help us continue to grow, create more green jobs, and make more resources available to local communities. To quote Nancy, “We recapture the value of materials, and we recapture the value of people.

It happened thanks to you!

We caught the attention of the Post editor because we won the eBay Charitable Business Award. So, thank you again for  your votes this summer!  We’re excited to see what opportunities will come along as a result of this article.

Already, our phone has been ringing off the hook.  We’re fielding calls from renovators asking us to pick up donations, homeowner searching for parts for old houses, and social workers asking how their clients can apply for our Home Essentials program.  We have a busy fall ahead!

Come celebrate with us

Nancy and the rest of our staff will be celebrating the big news next week at Forklift First Friday, and we hope you can join us.  Relax to live music from The Iris Bell, sip craft beer or wine, dine on sushi, try an upcycling craft, enjoy a salvage sale, and browse the pop-up market of local art.  We’ve had a great summer season but it’s the last First Friday of the year, so invite your friends and bring your kids and (friendly, leashed) pets!
