Green Friday & Small Business Saturday 2019

We hate Black Friday – the commercialism, the cost, and the unhappy crowds.

Let’s Celebrate Community Instead!

Shop green, shop small, or don’t shop at all –
Community Forklift gives you an excuse to stay away from the mall!

Instead of fighting crowds to buy presents after Thanksgiving, come by our warehouse to relax with friends and make presents. We’ll have live entertainment, a salvage sale, local artists, delicious food, and free photos with Santa for all ages.  It’s FREE for the whole family.  (Of course, you are welcome to bring cash so you can patronize the locally-owned businesses, tip the entertainers, and support your favorite reuse nonprofit!)

November 29th & 30th
11am – 2pm each day

at the Community Forklift warehouse
4671 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston, MD 20781 (5 minutes outside DC in the Hyattsville area)

Community Crafting

Join us at our crafting stations on both days to make your own presents from green materials!

Adults can make a coat rack for a materials fee of $12 (while supplies last). We also have a free craft – kids and adults can make custom coaster sets out of surplus tile!

Free Pictures With Santa (for all ages)

Santa loves DIY projects, and he’ll be here from 11am-2pm on Friday & Saturday to say hello to all the Forklift Fans!

Live Music

Saturday, November 30

11am: Ron Hicks Project

Ron Hicks Project is a Forklift favorite, and one of the best blues/jazz bands in the metro area. The varied vocal talents of their many members give the band its distinctive and aggressive flavor. Their music is spiced in the south, cooked in Chicago, and served in the DMV!

1pm: Roxanne Jarrett

Fusions? Standards? You never know what to expect from Roxanne Jarrett, a Jamaican-American singer raised in New York City. Trained in Opera, Broadway, Folk and Jazz, she sings in 5 languages and performs in the infectious language of joy.

Holiday Treats

Pink Confetti (Saturday, November 30)

Pink Confetti is a home-based business which offers uniquely designed cakes for all occasions. Their elegant wedding cakes, customized cakes, cupcakes, cookies, dairy-free treats, and desserts are made from scratch by the owner and chef Nicole Williams, who passionately turns creative visions into a velvety-sweet reality. “We love to share our flair, creating the most delicious and visually appealing sweets.”

Out of town for the holiday and can’t make it?

Don’t worry- You can still do some holiday shopping online in our Marketplace and eBay store, or purchase a Forklift gift card for a loved one!
