Donor Spotlight: Arlington Home Interiors

November 22, 2021

Thanks to our corporate and individual donors, Community Forklift can provide free and low-cost home essentials and building materials to the community while creating good green local jobs. By contributing materials to our reuse warehouse, donors not only provide for the community but also help conserve natural resources, reduce waste, and keep useable materials out of the landfill.

One of these generous donors is Arlington Home Interiors, a full-service interior design studio serving Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC, metro area as well as the Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware Beaches.

“Community Forklift is an extraordinary organization and we’re grateful to have such a resource,” Suzanne Manlove, CEO and Principal Designer at Arlington Home Interiors, said. “The furnishings industry is starting to incorporate sustainable practices but there’s a lot of work. We strive to do whatever we can to reduce waste. We’ve worked with several clients to give their used appliances and building materials a second life by working with the amazing Community Forklift team.”

Founded in 2007, Arlington Home Interiors’ mission is to “provide fresh, casually elegant living spaces for today’s modern families.” They also prove their commitment to the environment by regularly recommending Community Forklift to their clients for donations of their unneeded gently-used appliances, fixtures, furnishings, and building materials.

“Suzanne, Mark, and the Arlington Home Interiors team have been great supporters of reuse and Community Forklift,” CEO Nancy J. Meyer said. “By recommending us to their clients, we’ve been able to salvage some great materials that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill. Thank you for being great donors and cheerleaders for our mission to lift up our community through reuse!”

Recent projects completed by Arlington Home Interiors.

The recent donations of kitchen cabinets, appliances, and furniture facilitated by Arlington Home Interiors will go a long way in helping our community. The materials we receive are distributed for free to households with limited incomes through our Home Essentials Program, donated to other nonprofit groups for projects that benefit the community through our Community Building Blocks program, or sold at below-market prices to people in the area who need them at our nonprofit reuse warehouse in Hyattsville, MD. Funds from these sale of these materials support our community giving programs, the operation of the reuse warehouse, and the 30+ local green jobs we create.
