This Mid Century kitchen organizer is the best! With its metallic finish and sleek rounded design, it reminds me of a vintage airplane. Now, does anyone know where one can find paper towels in 1950s proportions? Sounds like the triple-roll of Brawny is a bit of a tight fit! Thanks for finding a home for our awesome home goods, Forklift Fans! Photos by @alexandracharitan (Instagram)

Local artist Jenn Pocock transforms materials from local salvage and thrift stores like Community Forklift using alcohol inks, acrylic paints, and dye powders. They were at June’s First Friday event along with other artists and vendors, live music, food and drink for sale, and discounts on salvaged materials. From holding stuff to holding feet! A clever Forklift Fan turned a salvaged drawer from Community Forklift into a fabulous panda-themed padded footstool. Thanks for supporting our reuse nonprofit and keeping usable materials out of the landfill! Photo by @mydadisart (Instagram)

It’s a reuse three-in-one! A Forklift Fan sourced a salvaged door, hardware, and mirror from our reuse warehouse for their awesome entryway. The door got a fresh coat of paint, the hooks were stripped and polished, and the mirror needed just a tiny wood patch and a good cleaning! Thanks for shopping secondhand and helping divert usable materials from the landfill! Photo by @nikki.rosato (Instagram)

Check out these ceiling lights in their new kitchen home! A reuse fan purchased a vintage pair at our reuse warehouse and updated them with a coat of matte black paint to the bases and finial. Thank you for supporting our nonprofit and diverting these fantastic fixtures from the landfill!

Every time you donate or shop at Community Forklift, you’re helping us lift up local communities through reuse.  We turn the construction waste stream into a resource stream for communities in the DC region – by keeping perfectly good items out of the landfill, preserving historical materials, providing low-cost building supplies, and creating local green jobs.
